- $14.95/mo for 100,000 transactional emails
- Marketing campaigns, automations and CRM included, not a second product
- SMTP + REST, suppression handling, event webhooks
- No separate per-contact charge for your marketing list
Great DX, two bills, two products
Resend has the best developer experience in transactional email — React Email, clean docs, a fast dashboard. Bluey trades a little of that polish for a bill roughly half the size and a marketing platform that does not cost extra.
- $35/mo for 100,000 transactional emails
- Marketing is a separate product billed per contact, from $40/mo
- Free tier capped at 100 emails per day
- SSO is $150/mo; extra domains are $20/mo per 100
Resend's transactional Pro plan is $20/mo for 50,000 emails and $35/mo for 100,000, with marketing contacts billed as a separate product from $40/mo. Bluey's transactional Essentials tier is $9.95 for 50,000 and $14.95 for 100,000, with marketing campaigns, automations, a CRM and landing pages on the same account rather than a second subscription. Choose Resend if React Email and developer experience are the deciding factor; choose Bluey if you want the same sending for roughly half, plus a marketing side you are not billed for twice.
The boring details, side by side.
Three things that come up in every conversation.
One product instead of two
Resend prices transactional by emails sent and marketing by contacts stored, as separate products. Run both and you are back to two bills and two models — the exact problem most teams switch to consolidate away from.
Roughly half the transactional bill
$14.95 against $35 at 100,000 emails a month, and $249.95 against $650 as you approach a million. The sending is the same job; the invoice is not.
A marketing side that is actually a marketing platform
Resend's marketing product handles broadcasts and contacts. Bluey adds visual automations with no per-run metering, a built-in CRM, landing pages, forms and an AI campaign builder — on the same account.
When Resend is the better choice.
Resend has earned its reputation, and for some teams the developer experience is worth the premium on its own.
If you only send transactional email and love the tooling, Resend is a fine choice. The calculation changes the moment you also need marketing: that is a second product on Resend and an included one on Bluey.
Switching from Resend? Here is the short version.
Resend to Bluey is straightforward — both expose a modern REST API and SMTP. The work is templates, not plumbing.

Is Bluey cheaper than Resend?
For transactional sending, consistently. 100,000 emails a month is $14.95 on Bluey Essentials against $35 on Resend Pro. The gap grows at the top: around a million emails a month, Resend Scale is $650 while Bluey Pro covers 1.5M for $249.95.
Can I keep using React Email templates?
Yes, indirectly. React Email renders to standard HTML, and that HTML imports into Bluey's composer. What you lose is the tight loop of previewing JSX components against the sending provider — that integration is Resend's own and it is genuinely good.
Does Resend include marketing automation?
It has a separate marketing product with broadcasts and contact management, billed per contact from $40/mo, and automation runs are metered — 10,000 included, then $0.0015 each. Bluey includes visual automations with no per-run charge on the same account as transactional.
Which has better deliverability?
Both authenticate properly and maintain reputable shared pools, and neither will save a sender who ignores list hygiene. Deliverability is driven far more by your own practices — authentication, complaint rate under Gmail's 0.3% threshold, and removing dormant contacts — than by the choice between two competent providers.
Does Resend have a free plan?
Yes: 3,000 emails a month, capped at 100 per day. It is genuinely useful for side projects, and more generous than Bluey's 7-day trial at that scale. Above it, Bluey's $4 entry tier for 15,000 emails is the cheaper next step.
Pricing verified 4 September 2026 against each provider’s public pricing page. Bluey figures use the Grow plan (send-based). Competitor tiers shift at least quarterly; figures marked “~” are interpolated between published tiers.
