The Stripe connector is on the roadmap and is not built yet, so nothing on this page can be set up today. It describes what the integration will do when it ships. In the meantime you can connect Stripe through Zapier, viaSocket, or webhooks and the REST API. Note that polling-based automation can lag by up to fifteen minutes, which matters for time-critical flows such as cart recovery.
Payment events, turned into lifecycle email
Connect Stripe and Bluey sees subscriptions, payments, failed charges and cancellations — the events that drive dunning, onboarding and churn-prevention email.
Typical setup: 5 minutes · No developer required · Connecting a store never raises your bill
The Stripe integration syncs customers, subscriptions, payments, failed charges and cancellations into Bluey, so you can trigger email on what people actually pay rather than on list membership. The two flows that pay for themselves fastest are involuntary-churn recovery — emailing customers whose card was declined before Stripe's retry schedule runs out — and trial-expiry sequences. Setup takes about five minutes through Stripe's OAuth connection. Because Bluey takes no share of your revenue, your Stripe money stays yours: the platform charges for emails sent, nothing else.
What actually syncs
The specifics, so you can tell before you connect anything whether the flows you want are possible.
| Data | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Customers | Into Bluey | Email, name, currency, created date and metadata fields, so you can segment on whatever you already store on the Stripe customer object. |
| Subscriptions | Into Bluey | Plan, status, interval, trial end date, current period end and cancellation date. This is what makes trial-expiry and renewal sequences possible. |
| Payments & invoices | Into Bluey | Successful charges with amount and currency, so lifetime value is computed from real revenue rather than estimated from behaviour. |
| Failed charges | Into Bluey | Declines and the decline reason. The trigger for dunning email, which recovers a meaningful share of what would otherwise be involuntary churn. |
| Cancellations | Into Bluey | Cancellation and its scheduled end date, so you can email during the period between cancelling and actually losing access — the only window where a win-back has real leverage. |
What you can build once it is connected
Setting it up — about 5 minutes
- 1In Bluey, open Integrations and choose Stripe
- 2Authorise through Stripe's OAuth flow — no API keys to copy or rotate
- 3Choose which Stripe products and prices to sync, if you only want a subset
- 4Map any Stripe customer metadata fields you want available as Bluey custom fields
- 5Turn on the failed-payment flow first — it is the one that pays for the integration
What this integration does not do
Worth knowing before you build a plan around it.
- Bluey emails about payments; it does not process them. Stripe remains your payment processor and the money never passes through Bluey.
- Stripe's own automatic dunning email can run alongside Bluey's, so turn one of them off or your customers will receive both.
- Usage-based and metered billing syncs as invoices; per-unit usage events are not modelled and need a webhook if you want to trigger on them.
- Stripe Tax, Radar and Connect data are not synced.
Stripe integration FAQ
Does Bluey take a cut of my Stripe revenue?
No. Bluey charges for emails sent and takes zero percent of your revenue. This is the main structural difference from creator platforms like Substack, which take 10% of subscription revenue indefinitely. Your Stripe payouts are unaffected by using Bluey.
Can I recover failed payments with this?
Yes, and it is usually the fastest payback in the whole integration. Failed charges sync with their decline reason, so you can email the customer while Stripe's retry schedule is still running. Most involuntary churn is an expired card rather than an intention to cancel, and an email that reaches the right person in that window converts well.
Should I turn off Stripe's own dunning emails?
Pick one. Running Stripe's automatic emails and a Bluey dunning flow at the same time means customers get two messages about the same declined card, which reads as disorganised and increases the chance they cancel deliberately.
Does this replace Stripe's receipts?
It does not have to. Stripe's receipts are fine and are tied to the payment record. If you would rather send branded receipts, you can do that through Bluey's transactional API — but keep one source of truth rather than sending both.
Can I use this to sell paid newsletter subscriptions?
Yes. Connect your own Stripe account, gate content by segment in Bluey, and trigger access emails on subscription events. Because you own the Stripe account, you keep 100% of the revenue minus Stripe's processing fee — no platform share.
