Everything else, connected in an afternoon
Zapier covers the long tail — the CRM, the webinar tool, the booking system, the spreadsheet. If it has a Zapier app, it can add contacts to Bluey, trigger flows, or receive Bluey events.
Typical setup: 5 minutes per Zap · No developer required · Connecting a store never raises your bill
Bluey's Zapier app exposes triggers (new subscriber, email opened, link clicked, form submitted, automation completed) and actions (create or update a contact, add to a segment, send a transactional email, start an automation), so you can connect Bluey to thousands of apps without waiting for a native integration. The common uses are pushing webinar registrations from Zoom, syncing form tools like Typeform, adding booking-system customers from Calendly, and writing new subscribers into a Google Sheet for reporting. Setup per Zap is about five minutes. Make.com works the same way if you prefer it.
What actually syncs
The specifics, so you can tell before you connect anything whether the flows you want are possible.
| Data | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| New subscriber (trigger) | Out of Bluey | Fires when a contact is added, so downstream systems stay current. |
| Email opened / link clicked (trigger) | Out of Bluey | Useful for routing hot leads into a sales tool. Treat opens with caution — Apple Mail Privacy Protection inflates them; clicks are the more reliable signal. |
| Automation completed (trigger) | Out of Bluey | Fires when a contact finishes a flow, so another system can pick up the next step. |
| Create or update contact (action) | Into Bluey | The workhorse. Upserts on email address with custom fields and tags, so repeated runs do not create duplicates. |
| Add to segment (action) | Into Bluey | Drop a contact into a segment to enter a flow, without changing their other data. |
| Send transactional email (action) | Into Bluey | Fire a one-off templated email from any Zap — useful for internal alerts too. |
What you can build once it is connected
Setting it up — about 5 minutes per Zap
- 1Create a Bluey API key from your account settings
- 2In Zapier, search for Bluey Email and connect the account with that key
- 3Pick a trigger app — the system that already has the data
- 4Add a Bluey action: create or update contact, add to segment, or send transactional email
- 5Map the fields, run a test with a real record, and turn the Zap on
What this integration does not do
Worth knowing before you build a plan around it.
- Zapier is not real-time on every plan — polling triggers can run on a delay of up to 15 minutes on lower tiers. For time-critical flows such as abandoned cart, use a native integration or the API instead.
- High-volume Zaps consume Zapier tasks quickly, and Zapier's own bill is per task. Above a few thousand events a month, the API is usually cheaper and faster.
- Zapier cannot backfill historical data — it only sees events from the moment the Zap is switched on. Import history separately by CSV.
- Multi-step transformations are limited compared with what you can do calling the API directly.
Zapier integration FAQ
What can Bluey do in Zapier?
As triggers: new subscriber, email opened, link clicked, form submitted and automation completed. As actions: create or update a contact, add to a segment, send a transactional email and start an automation. That covers most of what people want middleware for.
Should I use Zapier or the API?
Zapier for low-volume connections to tools you do not control, and for anything a non-developer needs to change. The API for high volume, for anything time-critical, and for anything where Zapier's per-task cost would exceed the effort of a direct call. The dividing line for most teams is a few thousand events a month.
Does Bluey work with Make.com?
Yes, the same way — through the API with an HTTP module, or via the app where available. Make's per-operation pricing is often cheaper than Zapier at higher volumes, so it is worth pricing both if volume is significant.
Will Zapier duplicate my contacts?
No. The create-or-update action upserts on email address, so a contact who already exists is updated rather than duplicated. This makes Zaps safe to re-run and safe to leave on.
How fast do Zaps run?
It depends on your Zapier plan. Instant triggers fire immediately; polling triggers check on an interval that can be up to 15 minutes on lower tiers. For abandoned cart, where the first email should land within an hour, that delay matters — use the native store integration for those.
