The WooCommerce connector is on the roadmap and is not built yet, so nothing on this page can be set up today. It describes what the integration will do when it ships. In the meantime you can connect WooCommerce through Zapier, viaSocket, or webhooks and the REST API. Note that polling-based automation can lag by up to fifteen minutes, which matters for time-critical flows such as cart recovery.
WordPress store data, without a plugin tax
Connect WooCommerce and Bluey receives customers, orders, products and cart events — the same flows a Shopify store gets, on a stack you already own.
Typical setup: 15 minutes · No developer required · Connecting a store never raises your bill
The WooCommerce integration syncs customers, orders, products and cart events into Bluey via a connector plugin, and attributes revenue back to the campaign or flow that earned it. That gives you abandoned cart, post-purchase, replenishment and win-back flows on a self-hosted store. Setup takes about fifteen minutes — slightly longer than Shopify because WooCommerce needs the plugin installed and API keys generated. Because billing is on emails sent, a store with a large customer table does not cost more to connect.
What actually syncs
The specifics, so you can tell before you connect anything whether the flows you want are possible.
| Data | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Customers | Into Bluey | Billing name, email, phone, marketing consent, order count, total spend and customer role. Guest checkouts sync as contacts with order history attached. |
| Orders | Into Bluey | Line items, totals, currency, coupon codes, order status and refunds. Status changes push through, so a flow can wait for 'completed' rather than 'processing'. |
| Products | Into Bluey | Titles, images, prices, stock status and permalinks, including variable products. Cart emails render the exact variant the customer chose. |
| Cart events | Into Bluey | Cart updated and checkout initiated, captured by the connector plugin. Guest carts are captured once an email address has been entered at checkout. |
| Campaign revenue | Out of Bluey | Orders attributed to the email that preceded them, with UTM tagging applied automatically so the same numbers appear in GA4. |
What you can build once it is connected
Setting it up — about 15 minutes
- 1Install the Bluey connector plugin from your WordPress admin
- 2In WooCommerce, generate a REST API key pair with read/write access
- 3Paste the key and secret into Bluey's WooCommerce integration screen
- 4Choose which customer roles and order statuses to sync
- 5Let the initial sync complete, then enable the abandoned cart flow
- 6Add SPF and DKIM records for your sending domain if they are not already published
What this integration does not do
Worth knowing before you build a plan around it.
- Cart capture depends on the connector plugin running — if a caching or optimisation plugin blocks its scripts, cart events will not fire. Test with a real checkout before relying on it.
- Guest carts are only recoverable once an email address has been entered at checkout. Earlier abandonment cannot be emailed.
- Subscription plugins (WooCommerce Subscriptions and similar) sync as orders; renewal-specific events are not modelled natively — route them through webhooks if you need them.
- Bluey does not send SMS, so recovery is email-only.
WooCommerce integration FAQ
Do I need a developer to set this up?
No. Installing a plugin and generating a WooCommerce REST API key pair is standard WordPress admin work. The one step worth care is testing a real checkout afterwards to confirm cart events fire, because caching plugins occasionally block the connector's scripts.
Does it work with guest checkout?
Yes, once the shopper has entered an email address at checkout. Anyone who abandons before that point cannot be identified or emailed — that is a limit of the data, not of the integration.
Will this slow down my store?
The connector writes events asynchronously and does not block page rendering. The heavier moment is the initial historical sync, which runs in the background; on a very large store, run it outside peak trading hours.
How is this different from a WooCommerce email plugin?
Plugins send from your own server, which means your store's hosting reputation determines whether receipts reach the inbox — and shared hosting IPs are frequently poor. Bluey sends from managed, authenticated infrastructure with reputation monitoring and suppression handling. It is the single most common fix for 'my WooCommerce emails go to spam'.
Can I sync WooCommerce Subscriptions data?
Subscription orders sync as regular orders with their line items, so you can segment on them. Renewal-specific events like an upcoming renewal or a failed payment are not modelled natively; if you need flows on those, send them to Bluey through a webhook or a Zapier step.
