Your store's events, turned into revenue flows
Connect Shopify and Bluey starts receiving orders, customers, products and the browse and cart events that abandoned-cart flows depend on. No app fee, and connecting a large catalogue never changes your bill.
Typical setup: 10 minutes · No developer required · Connecting a store never raises your bill
The Shopify integration syncs customers, orders, products, and cart and browse events into Bluey, and writes campaign-attributed revenue back so you can see what each flow earned. That unlocks abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase, replenishment and win-back flows using pre-built templates. Setup takes about ten minutes and needs no developer. Because Bluey bills on emails sent rather than contacts stored, connecting a store with 200,000 customers does not raise your monthly price — a meaningful difference from platforms that bill per profile, where a Shopify sync is what makes the invoice jump.
What actually syncs
The specifics, so you can tell before you connect anything whether the flows you want are possible.
| Data | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Customers | Into Bluey | Name, email, phone, accepts-marketing status, tags, total spend, order count and lifetime value. Marketing consent is respected — customers who have not opted in are imported as suppressed rather than mailable. |
| Orders | Into Bluey | Line items, totals, currency, discount codes, fulfilment status and refunds. Powers post-purchase timing, replenishment windows and revenue attribution. |
| Products & collections | Into Bluey | Titles, images, prices and URLs, so cart and browse emails can render the actual item rather than a generic reminder. Product blocks stay in sync when prices change. |
| Cart & checkout events | Into Bluey | Cart created, cart updated and checkout started. This is the trigger abandoned-cart flows fire on, and the reason the integration matters more than a plain customer import. |
| Browse events | Into Bluey | Product and collection views for identified visitors. Powers browse-abandonment, which typically reaches a larger audience than cart abandonment because far more people browse than add to cart. |
| Campaign revenue | Out of Bluey | Orders are attributed back to the campaign or flow step that produced them, so you can see which email in a sequence actually earned the money rather than guessing from click rates. |
| Segments to ad audiences | Out of Bluey | Push a Bluey segment to Meta or Google as a custom or lookalike audience, and suppress existing customers from acquisition campaigns. |
What you can build once it is connected
Setting it up — about 10 minutes
- 1In Bluey, open Integrations and choose Shopify
- 2Authorise the connection from your Shopify admin — standard OAuth, no API keys to copy
- 3Choose which customer segments to import, and confirm how marketing consent maps across
- 4Wait for the initial sync (a few minutes for most catalogues; longer for very large stores)
- 5Turn on the pre-built abandoned cart flow, review the copy, and set it live
- 6Add your sending domain's SPF and DKIM records if you have not already — required by Gmail and Yahoo for bulk senders
What this integration does not do
Worth knowing before you build a plan around it.
- Bluey does not send SMS, so cart recovery is email-only. If SMS is central to your recovery strategy, an omnichannel tool will do more.
- Browse abandonment only fires for visitors Bluey can identify — someone who has clicked an email or submitted a form. Anonymous first-time browsers cannot be emailed.
- Product recommendation blocks use purchase and browse history, not a separate machine-learning recommendation engine.
- Shopify POS in-store orders sync as orders, but in-store browse behaviour is not captured.
Shopify integration FAQ
Does connecting Shopify increase my Bluey bill?
No. Bluey bills on emails sent, not contacts stored, so importing a 200,000-customer store costs nothing extra until you email those customers. This is the clearest practical difference from per-contact platforms, where connecting a large store is exactly the moment the invoice jumps a tier.
How long does the initial sync take?
Usually a few minutes. Very large catalogues with long order histories can take longer, and the sync runs in the background — you can build flows while it completes. Cart and browse events start flowing as soon as the connection is authorised.
Will it respect my customers' marketing consent?
Yes. Shopify's accepts-marketing flag carries across, and customers who have not opted in are imported as suppressed rather than mailable. This matters legally under GDPR, CASL, the Australian Spam Act and India's DPDP Act, and practically because mailing non-consenting customers is the fastest way to breach Gmail's 0.3% complaint threshold.
Can I see how much revenue each email produced?
Yes. Orders are attributed back to the campaign or flow step that preceded them, so you get per-step revenue rather than a single number for the whole sequence. That is what lets you tell whether email two in your cart flow is earning its place or just adding sends.
What happens to my existing Shopify email flows?
They keep running until you turn them off. Most stores run both in parallel for a week — Bluey flows on a segment, existing flows on the rest — compare recovered revenue, then cut over. Running both against the same segment at once will double-email people, so split the audience rather than duplicating it.
Does this work with Shopify Plus?
Yes, including multi-store setups, though each store connects as its own integration. Checkout Extensibility scripts and Shopify Flow triggers are not consumed directly — if you need Shopify Flow to trigger a Bluey email, route it through the API or a Zapier step.
