Four structural choices, and where each one fails you
Not a feature list. Feature lists converge — every established platform sends campaigns, runs automations and segments lists. What actually separates these products is how they decide to charge you, and what they include rather than sell again.

How you are billed
The two halves of one decision: charge for storage, or charge for work. Almost everything else follows from it.

Why every page here names the cases where we lose
Every page in this section carries a section headed “when this does not help you” and another headed “what you give up”. That is deliberate, and it is not modesty.
A page that claims a product is right for everyone is making a claim the reader knows to be false, and they discount everything else on the page accordingly. A page that says plainly — send-based billing loses if you email a small list daily; there is no free tier; we do not send SMS — is one you can actually use to make a decision. Being told where a tool fails is what makes the rest of it credible.
It is also cheaper for us. A customer who signs up because a page overstated the fit churns in month two and leaves a review saying so. We would rather lose the signup than win it and then lose the customer — so if the cost calculator tells you that you are already paying less than we would charge, it says so.
Questions people ask before switching
Is Bluey always cheaper?
No, and every page in this section says where it is not. Send-based billing loses when you email a small list very often — a 2,000-person list emailed daily is 60,000 sends a month, and per-contact pricing may well be cheaper for that. It also loses below about 500 contacts, where several competitors are free and we are not. The cost calculator will tell you plainly if switching would not save you anything.
What does Bluey genuinely not do?
SMS. Inbound email routing. Long message retention — 3 to 7 days against Postmark's 45 to 365. Multi-channel journey orchestration across push and in-app, which Customer.io does properly. Sales-execution CRM features like quotes and forecasting. Each of those is named on the relevant page rather than left for you to discover.
Why does the billing model matter more than the feature list?
Because feature lists converge and billing models do not. Most established platforms can send a campaign, run an automation and segment a list. What differs, permanently, is what triggers your bill to rise — and for a business whose list grows faster than its sending frequency, that difference compounds every month while the feature gap stays roughly constant.
How do I check any of this?
Divide last month's emails sent by your total contacts. Below about four you are paying to store a list you are barely emailing. Then put both numbers and your current bill into the cost calculator — it uses Bluey's exact published tiers and compares against what you actually pay, not against a competitor price we assert.
